Electromagnetic Shielding Design Tips
At the beginning of 2026, I am starting with a topic that I have wanted to write about for a long time. In order to maintain continuity in the subject, it will be beneficial to review my articles...
Engineering expertise
EMC-conscious electronic design, PCB review, protection, and systematic troubleshooting for industrial and defence applications.
Throughout 15 years of hardware design experience, I have considered electromagnetic compatibility requirements from the beginning of the design process for electronic circuits intended for industrial and defence applications.
My work covers PCB layout, signal return paths, grounding, shielding, filtering, power and signal integrity, and protection against ESD and transient overvoltages.
I have also worked on investigating electromagnetic interference encountered during product development and testing, identifying its sources, and implementing design improvements.
To complement my practical hardware design experience, I have undertaken the EMC/EMI Design Course by Dario Fresu at Fresu Electronics, covering electromagnetic fundamentals, PCB return paths, signal and power integrity, EMI filtering, and EMC-aware design.

In shielded cables, the conductors are surrounded by a braided and/or foil layer. This layer:
In mixed-signal PCB design, the coexistence of analog and digital circuits on the same board presents significant challenges related to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Analog circuits typically...
